With years of experience spanning in-house roles, agencies, and consultancy, Johan brings a wealth of expertise and passion for building accessible, user-friendly solutions. In this interview, he shares insights into his career journey, what drew him to Epinova, and how he balances coding with cultivating life in a picturesque countryside home.

A career shaped by varied experiences


I’ve worked in the tech industry for many years, taking on roles in-house, at agencies, and most recently as a consultant. These experiences have given me the chance to explore a variety of projects and technical solutions. My previous position was at a large consultancy firm with thousands of employees, where I learned a lot. But I also felt it was time for a change. What I really appreciate about Epinova is that it’s a company where you feel at home right away and can build closer relationships with both colleagues and clients.

A personal company with a strong sense of community

I enjoyed my previous job, but I wanted to be in an environment where everyone works together toward the same goals and where I could have closer connections with my team. At Epinova, you feel a sense of community where people genuinely care about each other and share their knowledge. I’d previously interacted with Epinova during a client handover and was impressed by how open and engaged everyone was. It felt like the perfect place for me to contribute and grow.

Bringing expertise in Headless Architecture, Optimizely and Accessibility

I hope to bring my experience with various technical solutions to the table, especially within headless architecture for Optimizely. For me, it’s all about creating solutions that not only work well from a technical standpoint but also deliver a fantastic user experience. I love combining design, functionality, and accessibility to create solutions that both clients and their users truly appreciate.

The best part about my role is how varied it is! As a frontend developer, I focus on building sleek, modern websites that are easy to use. As a Tech Lead, I take on additional responsibilities, like helping the team choose the right technical solutions and ensuring we maintain high standards in our work. I love having this combination of being creative and also contributing strategically.

Accessibility and the EU Directive: A responsibility and opportunity

To me, accessibility is about building solutions that everyone can use, regardless of their circumstances. It’s our responsibility to make our products as inclusive as possible. With the EU’s new directive, it’s clearer than ever that accessibility isn’t optional – it needs to be part of the process from the very beginning. And that’s how we should always think – accessibility benefits everyone.

Exciting projects and growth

I’m looking forward to being part of exciting projects and working with people who are truly passionate about creating great solutions. I’m also excited to be part of a smaller team where you really have the chance to make an impact. And, of course, I’m eager to continue growing – both technically and as a leader.

From code to country lifestyle

I live in an old vicarage in the countryside outside Örebro with my wife and our two children, who are 4 and 7 years old. I love spending time with my family or working on projects around the house and garden. In the summer, you’ll often find me outside among the plants, growing a variety of flowers and vegetables. There’s something magical about waking up, walking barefoot into the garden, and picking fresh strawberries for breakfast. Indoors, I’m usually in the middle of a renovation or home styling project.
