With a background as a Senior Web Designer, Joakim has designed and built websites for companies in a variety of industries. What is it that drives him in his work? We have asked Joakim a few questions.

Tell us a little about your background

My upbringing has been characterized by color and design, and already as a ten-year-old I started experimenting with digital tools such as Photoshop. Since it was such a strong interest for me, I chose to take a course in digital design and communication at high school and a bachelor's degree in graphic design and technology at the university.

After college, I got a job as a retoucher at a production agency. Photoshop was one of my favorite tools for a long time, but it became a bit much when I was working with it full time so I started as a web designer at a startup company. I quickly discovered that this is something I'm really passionate about and that it's incredibly fun to work with design that directly creates value for customers.

How would you describe your role at Epinova?

My role is just like the job advertisement said: "You need someone with the same ability as a Swiss Army knife". I have been involved in everything from the beginning to delivery in large projects, to jumping in and helping with UX and design in parts of projects. I also help with marketing and internal material in all possible forms. Which is super fun – this is exactly how I want to work!

What makes you extra proud to work at Epinova?

The energy at Epinova is one of the things I appreciate the most and the opportunity to choose for myself when and how I want to work. Wonderful colleagues and managers who share the same ambition in the work while also putting great emphasis on having fun together.

What's the most fun project you've worked on so far and why?

I've had several projects that have been fun for different reasons, but it's probably the Swedish Communication Association that takes home that prize. The project offered many exciting and fun challenges. Like how the courses would be presented with several different formats or all the different color combinations that we needed to take into account.
As the icing on the cake, it was also an incredibly good team for this project, the collaboration between design, frontend and backend flowed smoothly.

What do you think is important in a good design?

A good design is about taking into account the recipient and their needs, while other wishes and thoughts are woven into the design. This applies regardless of whether it's about the web, marketing, presentation material or something else entirely.

What makes you thrive in a workplace?

Especially when there is a focus on employee well-being, that everyone helps each other and that activities are done together to get to know each other more, which creates a better team spirit and a more enjoyable workplace.
